Business Challenge - This assignment had the objectives of realigning selected traffic management responsibilities between the police and the strategic integrated transport authority. This initiative would enable those organisations to better focus on their core activities.
  • Our Role in the Solution - Our consultant led two key parts of the programme: the transition of the East London Traffic Control Centre (covering, for example Blackwall, Limehouse and East India tunnels) from the police to the transport authority; and the transition of abnormal loads from the police to the transport authority.
  • The Outcome - A focus on the internal customers, the resource requirements and associated training requirements were defined, the as-is and to-be process documentation was developed and a 'Special Services Agreement' to secure and procure the support of the police over the transition period was developed and agreed.
  • Achievements - Successful management of multiple and diverse stakeholders and facilitation to reach agreements to better align responsibilities within a structure limited by legislation. The activities, resources and processes to enable the transition were clearly defined and planned to enable a smooth transition of responsibilities and ownership.
